Academic sportsman

- Jong Bhak

An academic sportman is a researcher whose conscious or subconscious goal is competing for more papers, personal recognition, and prizes. They violate the original goal and practice of performing academic research but become more like spportsman by trying only to publish papers by all means possible in any scored jounal such as Nature and Science which are regarded as 'high impact score' journals.

It was coined by Jong Bhak in around 1997~1998 to refer to scientists who blindly compete to score whatever external measurement the community seems to recognize.
