Geromics is the omics study of anti-aging and rejuvenation.
Definition of Geromics
It is originated from a Korean word 제로.
제로 in Korean means literally removing and controlling aging.
Gero + Omics
Geromics is the sum of retarding aging, stopping aging, and reversing aging.
Anti-aging is preventing aging.
Rejuvenation is the reversal of aging.
This is another omics name of gerontology, too.
Geromics aims to study the whole biological gerostasis (changing and balancing process) in biological organisms.
- Gerogenomics – genome-wide studies of variants and mutations influencing lifespan.
- Gerotranscriptomics – expression changes across the lifespan.
- Geroproteomics – protein-level alterations and aggregation in aging.
- Gerometabolomics – metabolite shifts associated with senescence.
- Geroepigenomics – DNA methylation, histone modification, and “epigenetic clocks.”
- Geromicrobiomics – gut microbiome’s role in longevity.
